About Byesville

Byesville is a Guernsey County village along Wills Creek, platted in 1856 and named for Jonathan Bye, whose local mill gave the place its first working identity. The village incorporated in 1881, and its road map now includes I-70, I-77, State Routes 209 and 821. The Byesville Scenic Railway adds a distinctly local attraction, while the creek still runs through the basic geography. Byesville is southeast Ohio in mill-town form, with old waterpower and modern highway lines sharing the same small map.
