About Zanesville

Zanesville is a city and the county seat of Muskingum County, Ohio, situated at the confluence of the Licking and Muskingum rivers. Named after pioneer Ebenezer Zane, who blazed the historic trail known as Zane's Trace, the city of approximately 24,700 briefly served as the Ohio state capital from 1810 to 1812. The community features the Putnam Historic District and is home to branch campuses of Ohio University and Zane State College.
