About Cabery

Cabery is a village located in Ford and Kankakee counties in the U.S. state of Illinois. The 2020 census counted 231 residents. Cabery was founded around 1878 after the Kankakee and Southwestern Railroad was built through the area. Cabery was named after John R. Cabery has a park with basketball courts, a playground, and a lighted softball field with a press box. There is also a small pond called "the Clay Hole," which, although unsuitable for swimming, is a popular fishing pond during the warm months. In Cabery, history and present-day settings sit close enough to belong to the same local picture. The map tells the story in Cabery, where earlier chapters remain visible in current streets, buildings, and gathering places. The county line between Kankakee County and Ford County runs right through the middle of town on Main Street.
