Calion, AR

Calion sits on the south bank of the Ouachita River in Union County, just a short drive north of El Dorado along Highway 167. The town started out as a steamboat landing on a high river bluff before growing around timber mills, river navigation, and the railroad. Today, it offers a peaceful, slow-paced atmosphere tucked into the south Arkansas pine woods.

Outdoor recreation is central to everyday life here, especially around Lake Calion, which gives residents plenty of space for fishing, boating, and relaxed weekends on the water. While sawmills and shipping docks defined its past, modern Calion is a quiet, close-knit place to live. It combines scenic river views with the convenience of an easy commute into neighboring El Dorado for work, schools, and shopping.
