About Calion

Calion is a city in Union County, Arkansas, situated along the Ouachita River. Originally established around the Ouachita River Lock and Dam built by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers in 1916, this small community has a population of approximately three hundred residents. Public education is provided by the Smackover-Norphlet School District, which operates Smackover High School. Calion offers a residential, slow-paced lifestyle with mild winters and nearby access to river recreation.
