Callahan, FL

Callahan is a Nassau County town with 1,972 residents in the 2020 census, right against Duval County and part of the Jacksonville metro. The town is laid out around a crossroads: Florida A1A, US 301, and US 1 meet the local road network, which is why Callahan works as a stop between Jacksonville and the inland parts of Nassau County. It’s a small town with a regional address, close enough to Jacksonville for work but still organized around its own schools, local businesses, and fairgrounds.

Callahan has four public schools, including West Nassau High School, and the Nassau County Public Library’s Callahan Branch gives the town another everyday stop. Every October, the Northeast Florida Fair brings livestock, rides, food, and competitions to town; the 2026 run is set for October 8–18. Football at the high school stadium adds a second seasonal gathering point, especially once the weather turns. Callahan is a service town where the school year, the fair, and the highway all pull people through the same small center.
