Callender Lake, TX

Callender Lake is a Van Zandt County census-designated place built around a private residential lake community in northeast Texas. The lake, dam, and shoreline roads give the place its layout, with homes and wooded county roads gathered around the water. The community first appeared as a census-designated place in the 2010 census, making its statistical designation relatively new. Callender Lake sits in the wooded East Texas transition between the Dallas area and the piney countryside farther east.

Callender Lake Property Owners Improvement Association governs the gated community and maintains a community center, library, resale shop, boat storage, launch, children's park, fishing piers, and swim beach. Texas Water Utilities is listed as the community's water provider, and a small store sits across from the lake entrance. State water-quality records list Callender Lake as a named water body extending from the dam at FM 2339 toward the Henderson County line. Here the lake is the address system: roads, amenities, and daily errands all point back to the water.
