About Calvert Beach

Calvert Beach is a census-designated place in Calvert County on Maryland's Chesapeake Bay peninsula. The 2020 census counted 791 residents in the standalone CDP. Calvert County occupies the strip between the Chesapeake Bay and the Patuxent River, so the community's setting is shaped by a narrow, water-bound geography. County history also follows the long north-south route through that peninsula: Maryland Route 4 was built in stages from 1964 to 1987, creating the main road connection through Calvert County.

For local coordination, Calvert Beach Road is more useful than a town-center label. The Calvert Beach Civic Association maintains a bulletin board there and uses it to orient new residents to the community. Public education is organized at county scale through Calvert County Public Schools, which currently includes 13 elementary schools, six middle schools, and four high schools. That combination gives Calvert Beach a clear shape: a small bay-side CDP, tied to the county's peninsula road and school network, with neighborhood information and community business handled through the civic association.
