Branch Avenue station marks the southern end of Washington Metro's Green Line, and Prince George's County planning documents identify its surroundings as the Camp Springs Metro Station area. Camp Springs itself is an unincorporated census-designated place rather than a municipality with its own government, so county and regional agencies provide many of the public facilities that shape daily routines. The 2020 census counted 22,734 residents. Workers' mean travel time was about 38 minutes. Nearly 16 percent of residents age five or older spoke a language other than English at home, and about 12 percent were foreign-born. Allentown Road provides two of the community's most substantial recreation and social facilities. Allentown Splash, Tennis, and Fitness Park has indoor and outdoor pools, a splash pad, fitness space, basketball and tennis courts, picnic shelters, and multipurpose rooms.

Its indoor aquatic area includes a six-lane, 25-yard pool and a separate training pool, allowing scheduled classes and lap or general swimming to share the building. Also on Allentown Road, the Camp Springs Senior Activity Center operates six days a week with fitness equipment, a computer lab, dance and game rooms, classes, health screenings, trips, clubs, and drop-in activities for adults 60 and older. The center's weekday nutrition program also serves lunch by advance registration and links participants with transportation enrollment. The Metro station and Allentown Road facilities place regional transit, year-round aquatics, and older-adult services in different parts of a community without a conventional municipal center.
