About Canova

Canova is a tiny, peaceful prairie community in southeastern South Dakota with fewer than one hundred residents. Founded in 1883 and named after the Italian sculptor Antonio Canova, it offers quiet country living surrounded by open farmland. The town's biggest claim to fame belongs to Ted and Dorothy Hustead, who lived here before heading west to start the legendary Wall Drug. Today, Canova is an easygoing rural spot where neighbors know each other, giving residents a calm pace of life within a comfortable drive of Madison and Mitchell.
