Canyon Creek, TX

Canyon Creek is a census-designated place on the south side of Lake Granbury in southeastern Hood County. The 2010 census counted 916 residents. The community sits about seven miles southeast of Granbury, the county seat, with the Brazos River reservoir defining its southern shoreline. Lake Granbury gives Canyon Creek a water-facing map, with residential roads and coves following the lake's irregular edge. The place is part of the Granbury micropolitan area and the wider Dallas-Fort Worth orbit, but it reads as a lake community first.

Canyon Creek's landscape is built from shoreline neighborhoods, open water, and the roads that connect them to Granbury. The reservoir changed the wider county after its completion in 1969, bringing a new recreation and resort pattern to Hood County. Canyon Creek is a small community with no formal downtown at its center; the water, the shoreline, and the nearby county seat do that organizing work. Its strongest landmark is the Brazos River turned into a broad inland lake along the southern side of the county.
