About Capron
Capron is a Boone County village that began as Hebron Station along the Chicago & North Western Railroad before taking the Capron name in 1874 for Colonel John Capron. The railroad story is still part of the town’s identity, but Capron Lutheran Church gives the place an older landmark: worship here dates to 1844, with the first church building dedicated in 1850. The church has continued adding community pieces, including a garden and preschool. North Boone schools serve local students, and Route 173 runs through town. Capron feels like a small rail stop with an unusually long church memory.
