Carrollton, AL

Carrollton is a quiet town of about a thousand people in western Alabama, serving as the hub for rural Pickens County. Daily life here moves at an easy pace, centered on the historic courthouse square where Highways 17 and 86 meet. It functions as the civic center for the surrounding farm country, while also giving residents straightforward driving routes to larger regional hubs like Tuscaloosa and Columbus, Mississippi.

The town's biggest claim to fame is the mysterious "Face in the Window" etched into an upper pane of the old 1877 courthouse, a piece of local folklore celebrated every autumn with the Face in the Window Fest. Local students attend Pickens County public schools right in town, and Bevill State Community College is within an easy drive for college coursework and workforce training. It is a tight-knit community where history is part of the scenery and neighbors take the time to wave when you pass by.
