Carrollton, IN

Carrollton is an unincorporated community and census-designated place in Brandywine Township, Hancock County, Indiana. It was platted in 1854 and sits in the rural southern half of the county, where local roads run through farm country and connect small settlements with Greenfield, Shelbyville, and other nearby towns. The community's CDP designation appeared in the 2022 American Community Survey, giving its long-standing name a newer boundary for the census.

Carrollton has the shape of a crossroads settlement: a cluster of homes and local roads inside a township landscape, with larger county services reached beyond its boundary. Brandywine Township supplies the civic frame, while Hancock County provides the broader regional map. The place does not have a separate municipal government, but the Carrollton name remains useful for addresses, maps, and local orientation. Its story is an Indiana community that was laid out in the nineteenth century and continues through township roads, farm fields, and a modern census line. Its old plat still sets the outline for a place built before modern county roads.
