About Cartwright

Cartwright got its start in the late 1930s as a camp for the workers building Denison Dam. Once construction wrapped up and Lake Texoma filled in, many of those families decided to put down roots for good. Named after Oklahoma congressman Wilburn Cartwright, the community quickly grew into a quiet lakeside settlement right along the Texas border.
