Castle Dale, UT

Castle Dale is the Emery County seat on Cottonwood Creek in Castle Valley, between the Wasatch Plateau and the San Rafael Swell. Settlers arrived in 1879; the town incorporated in 1900 and became a city in 1920. Utah State Route 10 runs through the center, 31 miles northeast to Price and 37 miles southwest to Interstate 70. The county-seat role gathers government in a town whose wider setting opens toward benchlands, river valleys, mesas, and canyons.

The local map has practical civic stops: City Hall, Castle Dale Elementary, Emery High, and the Castle Dale Library at 115 North 100 East. The Blue Sage Arena on 300 East provides a dedicated place for arena events and memberships, and Castle Dale is home to the Joe's Valley Bouldering Festival. Schools, county offices, and the library give the town a working center; State Route 10 then carries that center toward the agricultural communities and public lands of Emery County. County services based here also reach the surrounding valley communities.
