Cattaraugus, NY

Tucked into the rolling hills of western New York, Cattaraugus is a quiet, close-knit village with deep roots and plenty of small-town charm. Located just north of Salamanca and a short drive from the ski slopes of Ellicottville, it offers a peaceful, scenic place to settle down away from the crowds. The village grew up as a bustling railroad stop in the nineteenth century, and you can still see that history today in the handsome brick storefronts and tree-lined streets downtown.

For newcomers, everyday life centers around the outdoors and the local Cattaraugus-Little Valley school district. The Pat McGee Trail runs right past town, giving residents a great multi-use path for walking, biking, and winter snowmobiling along the old rail corridor. While you will need to head to nearby hubs for major shopping, Cattaraugus provides affordable historic homes, rolling countryside, and a relaxed rural pace that makes it easy to feel at home.
