Jamestown is a city in southern Chautauqua County, New York, situated between Lake Erie to the north and the Allegheny National Forest to the south. The largest city in the county, Jamestown was a thriving industrial center in the twentieth century and today is home to the National Comedy Center, a museum that opened in 2018. Nearby Chautauqua Lake provides recreational access, and public education is administered by the Jamestown City School District.
