Cedar Hill, NM

Located along the Animas River just south of the Colorado border, Cedar Hill is a quiet rural community with deep local roots. It was originally known as Cox’s Crossing until neighbors famously drew the town’s new name out of a hat at a community gathering. A historic early-1900s schoolhouse still stands as a favorite landmark, anchoring the homesteads and farms scattered through the river valley. With Highway 550 running straight through, residents enjoy plenty of open space, scenic sandstone bluffs, and peaceful country living while staying within an easy drive of Aztec, Farmington, and Durango.
