Cedar Park, TX

Cedar Park sits about twenty miles northwest of downtown Austin, offering a comfortable blend of suburban ease and Hill Country character. The town traces its roots back to the late 1800s, when a landscaped stroll park built next to the Austin and Northwestern railroad depot inspired its name. While it spent decades as a quiet ranching community, steady growth since the 1970s has turned it into one of the most popular places to live in Central Texas. Today, U.S. 183 and 183A run straight through town, making it easy to head south into Austin or explore the growing communities to the north.

Getting around town and into the capital is fairly straightforward. Drivers can hop on the 183A tollway for a quick run down toward Austin, while CapMetro's Lakeline Station sits right on the southern edge of the city with commuter rail and express bus options. For trips close to home, the city has partnered with rideshare services to offer subsidized rides for locals running errands or connecting to transit. A major revamp of Bell Boulevard has also redirected heavier highway traffic, clearing the way for walkable neighborhood shops, restaurants, and green spaces right in the center of town.

While many residents commute into Austin or nearby tech corridors, Cedar Park has built a strong job market of its own. Major employers range from aerospace innovators like Firefly Aerospace to clean tech firms, healthcare centers, and Austin Community College's Cypress Creek campus. When the workday ends, there is plenty to do close to home. The H-E-B Center serves as a major local hub, hosting touring concerts, comedy acts, and family shows alongside minor league hockey with the Texas Stars and basketball with the Austin Spurs.

Outdoor spaces and community events are a huge draw for families moving to the area. The centerpiece of recent downtown planning is the Bell District, home to a sprawling, state-of-the-art public library that opened to wide acclaim. It sits right alongside Bell Park, where you will find paved walking trails, playground areas, fishing ponds, and native landscaping.
