Cedarburg is a historic Ozaukee County community north of Milwaukee, known for its preserved downtown, Cedar Creek, and 19th-century character. The broader Cedarburg area includes the Hamilton Historic District and evidence of much older human presence at sites such as Hilgen Spring Mound. Parks and canoe access points along Cedar Creek reinforce the town-and-country feel. Cedarburg is polished but not generic: stone buildings, festivals, galleries, and a strong local main street make it one of Wisconsin's more distinctive small cities.
