Center Point, NM

Center Point is an unincorporated community and census-designated place in San Juan County's Animas River Valley, just north of Aztec. The 2020 census counted 2,435 residents. US 550 runs through the community, with Aztec about five miles south and Durango 31 miles north. The river valley gives Center Point a broad Four Corners setting—open land, cottonwoods, farm roads, and the Animas moving southwest toward the San Juan. The river is the thread tying the valley together, especially in the older farm country.

Living here means being close to Aztec for schools and services while still having a rural stretch between you and the next town. The area sits near the larger ancestral Pueblo landscape around Aztec Ruins, and the river has been the reason people settled, traveled, and farmed this corridor for a very long time. Center Point is a north San Juan County pocket with a highway spine, a river valley backdrop, and Aztec close enough to function as the everyday center.
