Chain of Rocks, MO

Chain of Rocks is a tiny village in Lincoln County, located right along the Cuivre River near the St. Charles County border. It takes its name from a natural rocky ledge extending across the riverbed, which helped put the area on the map nearly two centuries ago. Today, with fewer than a hundred residents, it remains an exceptionally quiet, rural pocket surrounded by woods and water.

The local bridge across the Cuivre River serves as the primary route in and out, offering an easy crossing into neighboring St. Charles County and toward the wider St. Louis area. Local students attend schools in the Winfield R-IV School District, while everyday errands usually take residents to nearby communities like Winfield or Troy. It is an ideal spot for people who value privacy, open space, and a simple country setting along the river.
