Chaumont is a quiet waterfront village along Chaumont Bay on eastern Lake Ontario, in Jefferson County's Town of Lyme. It sits right on Route 12E, giving residents a straightforward drive east to Watertown for work and major shopping, or west toward Cape Vincent and the Thousand Islands. The community grew up around fishing and boating in the early 1800s, and much of that historic character remains intact across its quiet streets, classic homes, and local limestone architecture.

Daily life naturally centers on the water. Chaumont Bay is popular for sailing and freshwater fishing, and between local marinas, public launches, and the village beach, getting out on the water is part of the regular routine.
