About Chelan
Chelan is a city in Chelan County, Washington, situated on the southeastern tip of Lake Chelan where it empties into the Chelan River. Established in the late nineteenth century when Colonel Henry Clay Merriam founded Camp Chelan, the community developed alongside a historic wagon road connecting the lake to the Columbia River. Located in the rain shadow of the Cascade Mountains, the city receives very low annual precipitation.
