Chickaloon, AK

Chickaloon is a quiet rural community nestled along the Glenn Highway in Alaska's Matanuska-Susitna Borough. Home to around 250 residents, this small settlement sits between the Chugach and Talkeetna mountains where the Matanuska River winds through the valley. It is the ancestral home of the Chickaloon Native Village (Nay'dini'aa Na' Kayax), an Ahtna Athabascan tribe whose heritage remains central to local life today. Residents enjoy incredible mountain scenery, wide-open spaces, and a deep connection to the surrounding wilderness and history.
