About Chickamaw Beach
Chickamaw Beach is a tiny Cass County city on the north shore of Norway Lake, immediately beside Pine River and a short drive from Brainerd. Minnesota State Highway 84 provides the road connection through the community, while Highway 371 is nearby. The city incorporated as a village on November 20, 1950, and its identity has stayed tied to shoreline homes, seasonal cabins, and the forest-and-water landscape of central Cass County.
There is no school, commercial strip, or municipal water and sewer system inside the city, so Chickamaw Beach leans on nearby Pine River and the wider county for everyday services. What it has in abundance is lake-country work and play: boating, fishing, canoeing, hiking, hunting, snowmobiling, and trails all belong to the local mix. The Norway Lake Association volunteers care for the water and have worked with the city on a former sanitation-district parcel. Chickamaw Beach feels like a small lakeside municipality in the practical sense: a road, shoreline, forest, and a web of nearby places doing the heavier service work.
