About Chistochina

Chistochina is a small census-designated place in the Copper River Census Area, Alaska, located along the Tok Cutoff Highway. Originating as an Ahtna Athabascan fish camp and a stopover for historic traders, the settlement is the most traditional Ahtna village and serves as the home of the Cheesh'Na Tribe. The area has a population of sixty residents and lies along the historic Valdez–Eagle Trail near the upper Chistochina River.
