Christmas, FL

Sitting about twenty-five miles east of Orlando, Christmas is a quiet, rural community known for wide-open spaces, pine woods, and a relaxed country pace. The town gets its festive name from Fort Christmas, built by soldiers on Christmas Day in 1837 during the Seminole Wars. Today, that history lives on at Fort Christmas Historical Park, a popular weekend spot with a full-scale replica fort and restored pioneer homesteads. Every December, the town post office turns into a bustling hub as people from all over send in holiday greeting cards just to receive the famous "Christmas, FL" postmark.
