About Chumuckla
Chumuckla is a Santa Rosa County CDP north of Pace, centered around the springs and the old crossroads that carry its name. The name is tied to Chumuckla Springs, where Creek communities lived before the area's cotton and mill era. A cotton mill and company store once gave the settlement its working center, and the community school later became Chumuckla Elementary. Today that school serves K-6 students, while the roads around Highway 182 connect the community to farms, Jay, and the Pensacola-area edge. Chumuckla is a rural Florida place whose story runs from spring water and Creek country through cotton, school, and the families still spread along the roads.
