About Clarkston
Clarkston sits at the north end of Cache Valley, a small town laid out in 1864 under Gunsight Peak. The first settlement was abandoned in 1866 because of isolation and fear of attack, then rebuilt a year later with homes arranged like a fort and a shared corral. That is the detail that makes Clarkston's early map click. The town is also the last home and burial place of Martin Harris, one of the Book of Mormon's three witnesses, and Pony Express Days keeps the June calendar tied to that western story. Clarkston feels like a Cache Valley town with a frontier beginning, a mountain backdrop, and a very particular local memory.
