Claypool, AZ

Claypool is a Gila County census-designated place in the copper country between Miami and Globe. U.S. Route 60 runs along its north edge, so the settlement sits in a narrow band between highway, desert slopes, and the old Globe-Miami mining district. The name honors W. D. Claypool, who served in both the Arizona House and Senate in the 1910s and 1920s. Globe is the county seat, and its civic and commercial services organize much of southern Gila County.
