About Cleveland
Cleveland is a Cass County city whose first map name was Maxwell. Thomas T. Maxwell platted the town in 1890, and the post office took the name Cleveland that same year, tying the place to President Grover Cleveland. The Midway R-I School District gives the city a school center of its own, while Cass County's older railroad and farm history still hangs around the town's edges. Cleveland is a small Missouri city whose name changed early, but whose place in the county's western map has remained easy to read.
