About Climax

Climax was founded in 1884 and took its name from the town's elevation or from Climax College in Kalamazoo, Michigan. Greenwood County's city is served by Eureka USD 389; Climax High School closed through school unification, so secondary education is now part of a broader district route. The Kansas Historical Society records a Climax post office from 1872 to 1961, a mail connection that outlasted the town's early school arrangement. Climax remains a small agricultural community on county roads in Greenwood County's Osage Cuesta and Flint Hills landscape.
