About Clint
Clint is an El Paso County town on the Southern Pacific line at State Highway 20 and Farm Road 1110, about sixteen miles southeast of downtown El Paso. It also carried the name Collinsburgh, after early settler Mary Clinton Collins. The post office opened in 1886, when the settlement was still identified with the San Elizario station; by the 1890s, a general store, hotel, and fruit growers had turned it into an agricultural center. A townsite was laid out in 1909, and by 1914 Clint had churches, banks, a newspaper, and a tomato cannery. The present-day school story runs through Clint ISD, with Clint High School, Clint Junior High, and Surratt Elementary all in town.
