Cloud Lake, FL

Cloud Lake is one of the smallest and most distinctive towns in Palm Beach County, with just over 200 residents living across roughly 36 acres. Tucked right next to West Palm Beach and Glen Ridge, the neighborhood centers around the quiet five-acre lake that gives the town its name. It offers a secluded, easygoing atmosphere with single-family homes on peaceful streets, even while sitting right by Interstate 95, Southern Boulevard, and Palm Beach International Airport for quick commutes.

The community dates back to 1935, when twin civil engineers Karl and Kenyon Riddle mapped out a subdivision on the south side of Southern Boulevard. The central lake was formed when dirt was excavated to build a railroad overpass, and Kenyon named it Cloud Lake after Seminole leader Yaholoochee, which translates to "The Cloud." The town incorporated in 1951 and has held onto its quiet, small-pocket charm ever since, giving residents a relaxed lakeside setting right in the middle of the metro area.
