Colcord, OK

Colcord is a town in southern Delaware County, in the Green Country corner of Oklahoma near the Arkansas line. State Highway 116 runs through town, linking it west toward US 59 and east toward the state border; the community of Kansas lies about eight miles southwest and Jay about eighteen miles northwest. The surrounding country is built around farms, cattle, poultry, and dairy operations, while Natural Falls State Park is a nearby destination on the highway network.

Colcord began as Row, an Indian Territory settlement about a mile north of the present town. Cherokee families known as the Old Settlers were in the area by the 1830s, and later forced removals and the Civil War reshaped the surrounding communities. Old Settlers Day, held on the second Saturday in June, keeps that layered history in the town calendar. A grocery, restaurants, churches, the Talbot Library and Museum, and the senior center give Colcord a practical center for residents spread across the rural roads.
