Colwich, KS

Colwich is a small city northwest of Wichita, centered around the intersection of 53rd Street North and 167th Street West. The 2020 census counted 1,455 residents. It was founded in 1887, and its name compresses the Colorado and Wichita Railroad that helped establish the town. That rail origin still gives Colwich its own municipal center and street grid, even as the city sits in Wichita’s orbit. The pattern is visible in the roads, school, and local churches.

The present-day rhythm runs through Renwick USD 267, with Colwich Elementary serving the city, and through the organizations that keep a small Sedgwick County place connected.
