About Colwyn

Colwyn is a very small Delaware County borough on the Philadelphia line, covering about 0.3 square miles where Cobbs Creek meets Darby Creek. The borough dates its municipal history to 1682, while its current boundaries put it next to Darby, Sharon Hill, Darby Township, and Philadelphia. That leaves the local geography mostly to creek corridors and adjoining borough streets, with Philadelphia just across the eastern edge. William Penn School District serves the borough, and Colwyn Elementary is part of that district. Colwyn is one of those compact inner-suburban places whose name marks a municipality smaller than the road network around it: a few blocks of borough government, a school connection, and the Darby-Cobbs watercourse at the center of the map.
