About Condon
Condon lies along the Swan River and Montana Highway 83 in the Swan Valley, between the Swan Range and the Mission Mountains. The community is eighty miles north of Missoula and sixty-four miles south of Kalispell, but those distances are only part of the story. Condon is the kind of place where the river, forest roads, mountain weather, and the wilderness areas beyond town shape how residents plan work, travel, and recreation.
The Bob Marshall and Mission Mountains Wilderness areas give the valley a national reputation, while the post office, local businesses, schools, and seasonal outdoor work keep Condon grounded in ordinary life. Fishing on the Swan River, hiking, hunting, wildlife watching, and forest work share space with homes and ranches along Highway 83. Condon's role is larger than its population because it serves as a meeting point for the valley. It is a working mountain community with wilderness at the edge of the road and neighbors spread along the river.
