Connecticut Farms, NJ

Connecticut Farms is a Union Township neighborhood and census-designated place whose name reaches back to one of New Jersey's early settlements. The area became a battlefield in June 1780, when British and Hessian forces burned the farms and the Presbyterian church; Hannah Caldwell was killed at the nearby parsonage. The rebuilt Caldwell Parsonage still holds the story, while modern streets and U.S. 22 place Connecticut Farms inside the Union County map. It is an old Revolutionary-era name living inside a suburban New Jersey setting.
