About Convoy
Convoy is a Van Wert County village of 1,012 residents in the 2020 census, in Tully Township and the Van Wert micropolitan area. It was platted in 1854 and took its name from Convoy, Ireland, the first settler's home. The village sits in the old Black Swamp region, with farm fields meeting a compact center of streets, shops, and civic buildings. Edgewood Park and the Village Square give residents places to gather, while Community Days puts that center on the calendar each year.
More than 50 merchants and services serve Convoy and the surrounding township, so the village has the practical reach of a rural service stop. A branch of the Brumback Library adds a reading room and meeting place, and Crestview schools connect local students to a larger district and Northwest Conference sports. The fields around town still set the pace, but the square, park, library, and school network give Convoy a clear center. It is a small northwest Ohio village whose Irish name, farm setting, and community calendar all remain visible in the same few blocks.
