Cooleemee, NC

Tucked along the South Yadkin River in Davie County, Cooleemee got its start in the late 1890s as a thriving textile community. The cotton mill shaped the entire town from the ground up, building worker cottages, local schools, and neighborhood churches. While the mill closed decades ago, the town's original footprint remains largely intact, giving the residential streets a tight-knit, historic feel that connects the community to its roots.

Today, local history is preserved at the Zachary House and the Mill House Museum, but outdoor recreation is just as big a draw. RiverPark at Cooleemee Falls, known to locals as "The Bullhole," offers walking trails, picnic areas, and swimming near the old stone dam. With quick access along Highway 801 to neighboring Mocksville, Cooleemee offers a quiet, affordable small-town setting with plenty of riverside charm.
