Coquille, OR

Coquille is a quiet river town of about 4,000 residents, tucked into the green valley of southwestern Oregon's Coast Range. As the seat of Coos County, it sits roughly twenty miles inland from the Pacific, giving it warmer, sunnier summers than the immediate coast while keeping a calm, small-town pace. The area grew around logging, farming, and river trade, and today it provides an affordable, down-to-earth home base surrounded by forested hills and open pastures.

Daily life is centered around local schools, county services, and community traditions. Residents can stroll along the riverwalk, explore local history at the valley museum, or catch a summer melodrama at the volunteer-run Sawdust Theatre. Highway 42 connects the town directly to coastal beaches in Bandon and bigger shopping and medical centers in Coos Bay, making it easy to enjoy coastal Oregon while living away from the tourist crowds.
