Corbin City, NJ

Corbin City is an Atlantic County city set in the coastal plain between Egg Harbor Township, Estell Manor, and Upper Township across the Cape May County line. The city was incorporated in 1922 from Weymouth Township and took its name from Austin Corbin, a nineteenth-century banking and railroad entrepreneur. Its small-scale geography includes Buck Hill and Rock Point, with Atlantic City and Hammonton forming the surrounding metropolitan area.

Corbin City has an unusual school arrangement: it operates as a non-operating district, sending K-8 students to Upper Township and high-school students to Ocean City. Families can also choose Atlantic County Institute of Technology. That setup makes county lines part of the ordinary week, with children traveling out of town for school while city government remains local.
