About Cordry Sweetwater Lakes

Cordry Sweetwater Lakes is a Brown County census-designated place in Hamblen Township, built around the private Cordry and Sweetwater reservoirs. Development began in the 1950s, and the Cordry-Sweetwater Conservancy District was established in 1961 to finish the dams and manage water, sewage, parks, and wildlife. The district covers about 2,300 acres with roughly 1,700 lots, all in a residential lake community. The 2020 census counted 1,274 residents. The local map is organized through the district and lot owners association. Sweetwater Beach, Cordry Marina, Centerlake Park, and the association clubhouse sit alongside the lakes, while an on-site volunteer fire department and a Brown County Public Library give the community civic facilities of its own.

Boat launches and shared green spaces keep the water central to the neighborhood's routine. The association's Fourth of July fireworks over Sweetwater Lake are an annual marker. Cordry Sweetwater Lakes is a place where the dams, private shoreline, and neighborhood gatherings all belong to the same two-lake setting.
