Coulee City, WA

Coulee City is a Grant County town of 549 people at the 2020 census, on the southern shore of Banks Lake. The town began as McEntee's Crossing in 1881, when Philip McEntee built the first log cabin after helping surveyors lay out a road, and it incorporated in 1907. Banks Lake is a 27-mile man-made reservoir created through the Columbia Basin Project; water from it feeds the irrigation system toward Billy Clapp Lake. U.S. Route 2 crosses State Route 17 in town, keeping the reservoir and road network in the same frame.

Dry Falls lies about two miles southwest, and the surrounding recreation map includes Sun Lakes, Blue Lake, Lake Lenore, Soap Lake, Grand Coulee Dam, and Roosevelt Lake.
