About Courtenay

Courtenay was founded in 1892 when the railroad arrived in northeastern Stutsman County, giving area farmers a much-needed local hub to ship their grain. Even after a fire destroyed most of the young town in 1895, early residents rebuilt and put down lasting roots. Today, Courtenay is a quiet, close-knit prairie community that offers wide-open skies and the calm, steady pace of small-town North Dakota.
