Creedmoor, TX

Creedmoor sits on the rural south side of Travis County, about fifteen miles south of Austin, where farm roads and large tracts meet the fast-growing capital region. Cotton once ran the local economy, and the community had two gins in the 1950s. Creedmoor incorporated in 1982 when Austin annexation was on the table, a decision that gave this small town its own municipal line while the metro kept moving around it.

School history is the local thread people can still follow. A one-room log-cabin school opened in 1880, the Creedmoor Common School District later carried grades through high school, and the old bilingual program became part of the area's education story. Today's Creedmoor Elementary School is in Del Valle ISD and serves a wide rural attendance area. The city has the practical feel of a country crossroads with Austin errands nearby: long views over farmland, a small civic center, school traffic, and the steady pressure of growth at the edge of town.
