About Crofton
Near Crofton, the Katcef Archaeological Site contains overlapping seasonal camps dating from the Paleoindian Clovis period through the Late Woodland period and entered the National Register of Historic Places in 1991. The Anne Arundel County census-designated place had 29,641 residents across nearly seven square miles in 2020. Another listed property, Linthicum Walks, preserves a dwelling whose oldest portion may date to the late eighteenth century, a mid-nineteenth-century meathouse, and a tobacco barn built before 1815. The property is notable for surviving examples of rural Tidewater Maryland architecture and agricultural buildings.
