Cross Plains, TN

Cross Plains is a quiet, historic town in Robertson County, tucked just north of Nashville near the Kentucky border. Home to around 2,000 people, it is the oldest settlement in the county, dating back to 1778 when pioneer Thomas Kilgore built a homestead here along the Red River. Today, the community holds onto its peaceful rural atmosphere, surrounded by rolling farmland, local churches, and neighborhood businesses along State Route 25. With Interstate 65 sitting just to the east, residents enjoy an easy commute south toward Nashville or north toward Bowling Green.

Everyday life in town revolves around local schools and neighborhood gatherings. East Robertson Elementary and East Robertson High School serve as big focal points for community sports, while neighboring Kilgore Park offers playgrounds, walking trails, and ball fields. For major shopping and county services, neighboring Springfield is a short drive away, while Nashville is roughly 40 minutes south for regional hospitals, universities, and broader job markets. It is an appealing landing spot for newcomers looking for wide open spaces, friendly neighbors, and a genuine small-town pace.
